I am an independent and artisan perfumer.
What does this mean?
It means that along with working for myself (and not for a fragrance house), I also write my own perfume formulas and make my own perfumes, in small batches, in my laboratory. This allows me to use natural and synthetic ingredients that I can source from a variety of manufacturers, rather than being beholden to one company and its ingredients. My perfumes are unisex.
I consider my perfume to be “wearable art.” As in art, my process of creation values unique work, small batch production and harnessing the emotive quality of the work. I often release my perfumes in conjunction with visual artists who have been inspired by my scents. I make perfumes about stories, the natural environment, and concepts that I find compelling, revealing and emotional. As a result, four of my scents have been honored with nominations in the prestigious Art and Olfaction Awards.
